Dimensions: 4.5” diameter
Influenced by the desire to experiment beyond quilts with corners. I have my grandparents’ barometer, and it was the perfect size to trace for this circle. The original squares were 3.5” each.

New skills: This is the first quilt I’ve made by putting together the sandwich of three layers and then sewing around the edge with right sides together before turning it out. This approach worked quite well, but it was tricky to sew up the hole with a ladder stitch while also maintaining the curve of the circle. I used Sashiko thread, and the traditional technique of not using knots. I used backstitching instead to reinforce the line of stitching around the edge. I think these round TQs would like to travel around in a gaggle with many others.
