Banner for A & J
This is not a Tiny Quilt!
I made a patchwork banner for Arinn and Julian, and gave it to them at their wedding celebration! This is the most ambitious patchwork and appliqué that I’ve done so far. I’m proud that I have the skills to turn this idea into a banner. I’d like to do more with patchwork lettering in the near future... I have plans for some protest signs.
Celebratory Banner
Dimensions: 9.5 by 14.5”
New skills: So many new skills!
Keeping track of more squares in a larger patchwork, with the help of labels and chain piecing
Working accurately with 2” squares that became 1” squares in the finished banner - I’m still surprised about how much a piece shrinks with a 1/4” seam allowance all the way around each square
Figuring out how to do pixelated lettering in patchwork
Appliqué with the foil method for the heart
Adding a separate binding for the first time with the help of this excellent tutorial. (Before this, I’ve finished all of my Tiny Quilts with self-binding where the back fabric folds over to make the binding.)
